Western Alchemy

Opening Reception: Friday, July 7, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Free.

Using traditional photography methods such as wet plate collodion and large format sheet film, Matthew has set out to capture the western landscapes that have inspired him the most. Using a photographic process that is over 150 years old, he hand makes images onto glass and aluminum. Wet plate was originally used to capture these landscapes by classic photographers like Timmothy O' Sullivan and Roger Fenton. Matthew wanted to return to these analog methods to be more mindful in the way these landscapes are rendered.
