Hansel and Gretel
Wednesday, August 4, 11:00 AM

Based on the Grimm brothers' famous fairy tale, this opera, written by Engelbert Humperdinck, tells the classic story of how Hansel and Gretel get lost in the forest. They fall asleep for the night, protected by fourteen angels. In the morning, they discover a house made entirely of gingerbread. As they begin to eat, suddenly the witch calls out, "Who's nibbling on my little house." She captures them! She wants to eat them, but needs to fatten them up first. Little does she realize, the cunning children have a plan of their own and throw her into the oven! Spells are released and children who had been turned into gingerbread children now come back to life! Hansel and Gretel's parents are heard in the distance, and they return home safely.

It's part of the Divine Family Concert Series and is FREE for all ages.
