As a painter, Anders Johnson creates environments that are filled with ruin and disarray, but that also contain a mindful assemblage of cultural, historical, political, and personal references.
About the Artist
Anders Johnson is an Assistant Professor of Art at Western Colorado University and teaches Foundation Drawing, Design and Painting. Johnson earned his BA from North Park University and he holds an MFA in Painting and Drawing from Indiana University. Prior to Western, Johnson taught at Indiana University (both on campus and through their study abroad program in Florence, Italy) and at Vincennes University.
Johnson has an active national and international exhibition record of solo and group shows and his artwork is in several collections including the Evansville Art Museum and The CICA Museum in Seoul, South Korea. He was also featured recently in New American Paintings and was a guest on the Studio Break Podcast.
