Iron Pour Artist Residency

Artists are invited to Crested Butte to spend a week making work to be cast at The Iron Pour. The registration fee covers all pour materials (sand, resin, iron, etc.) and space at The Center for the Arts for 7 working days to create molds for sculptures. Artists need to bring eye protection, a sketchbook and pencils, and materials for pattern making (patterns can be made of wood, Styrofoam, plasticine clay, ceramics that have been fired, etc.).
The Residency begins on Sunday, September 30. Iron Pour Director Jesse Blumenthal and Colorado Mesa University Professor Araan Schmidt will be on site at The Center all week as a resource for artists as they make work. The pair will host daily workshops and discussions, leading novice and experienced artists through the mold making and sculpture creation process. So, if you do not have experience in casting in iron, don't fret! You will have help, and now is your chance to learn how it's done!
Registration: $350 includes pour materials and daily workshops. Space is limited to 10 – 12 artist, so reserve early.
