Sarah Schmidt combines her love of figure and landscape painting for this collection created especially for a town in love with the outdoors. Inspired by the trails and people who love enjoying them, she captured moments only found in deep nature. This could be the tranquility of a cross-country trail, or the exhilaration of biking down a mountain - each painting is a reminder of why we live, play and stay here in Crested Butte.

Opening Reception: Friday, March 1. 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Sarah Schmidt combines her love of figure and landscape painting for this collection created especially for a town in love with the outdoors. Inspired by the trails and people who love enjoying them, she captured moments only found in deep nature. This could be the tranquility of a cross-country trail, or the exhilaration of biking down a mountain — each painting is a reminder of why we live, play and stay here in Crested Butte.

Originally from Northern Virginia, Sarah studied at the Corcoran School of Art during high school and then went to Savannah College of Art and Design for her BFA. She spent several years in Austin Texas illustrating greeting cards before getting restless and traveling around the country. As her traveling slowed, her painting picked up. She landed here in Crested Butte where she shows here paintings at Redline Gallery and has painted two signs for the town, including the new Creative District sign.
