The Center for the Arts announces collaboration with the Crested Butte Music Festival
The Center for the Arts and the Crested Butte Music Festival have formed a partnership whereby Center staff will collaborate on a variety of initiatives as The Center prepares to become the host venue of the Music Festival in the new theater. Shared staff positions and organizational efficiencies are the basis for the new collaboration.
“We feel this will be a natural fit and will add vital programming to The Center’s offerings beginning with the debut of the new Center this July” said Jenny Birnie, The Center’s Executive Director. “The Crested Butte Music Festival is thrilled to make the new Center and its acoustically state-of-the-art theatre our new home. To be able to work collaboratively with The Center’s administration and marketing teams will add a positive dimension we have been seeking for many years” added Erica Vernon, CBMF’s Managing Director.
The Crested Butte Music Festival’s performance season kicks off June 30th and runs through July 28th. Highlights of the season include: two operatic / musical theatre works; superstar violinist Paul Huang; a live performance of music from the video game Journey; Montreal-based chamber orchestra Collectif 9; Grammy-nominated indie rock band DeVotchKa; acclaimed baritone Michael Kelly performing Schubert; the world's best Gypsy Jazz musicians, including the Rhythm Future Quartet; and Wine Dinners featuring Sherwin Family and Jessup Cellars vineyards.
This unique collaboration will help the Crested Butte Music Festival to sustain its 23-year heritage of providing cultural musical performances that span from baroque to opera to Gypsy Jazz to the visitors and residents of the Gunnison Valley.
