BLM Panel, Nov 29

Uncomfortable Conversations; BLM panel discussion

Nov 29, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Have you ever wondered what people are talking about when they say that racism is happening in Crested Butte or Gunnison? Or why people get offended when they hear “All Lives Matter” in response to “Black Lives Matter”?

The Black Lives Matter Community Coalition will be hosting an Uncomfortable Conversations panel. Our goal is to offer a safe and informative space for people to ask questions about racism, Black Lives Matter, the Black Lives Matter mural, and other questions about race.

We have an excellent panel of local experts and passionate individuals including:

  • Alina Luna, Professor of English and Committee Chair of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Internationalization at Western Colorado University.
  • Karen Hoskin, MS, Founder and Owner of Montanya Distillers.
  • Chloe Bowman, Local preschool teacher and Founder of The Melanin Mountain Project.
  • Dara MacDonald, Town of Crested Butte Town Manager.
  • Maurice, Owner of Midnight Gallery and artist.
  • Mike Reily, Town of Crested Butte’s Chief Marshal.
  • Anthony Burton, Town of Mount Crested Butte’s Police Officer.

Arvin Ramgoolam, Storyteller, Founder and Part Owner of Townie Books, will moderate.

You can submit questions anonymously to CBconvos@gmail.com. Please submit questions by November 24, 2020.

Tune in here to watch the discussion November 29th at 6 pm.

We look forward to including you in the conversation!
