Even if you think you don’t know anything about opera\, you have almost certainly heard many of the most famous operatic arias\, duets\, and themes that have been used to promote dozens of products in television advertising. Now is your chance to enjoy hearing them performed by some glorious Colorado singers\, accompanied by a fabulous little orchestra. \nThe concert is called “Opera Lollipops\,” and you will have a unique opportunity to hear many of these familiar tunes on Saturday\, August 1\, at the Center for the Arts in Crested Butte. SUMMARY:Steve Earle
DESCRIPTION:Sold Out\nSteve Earle is one of the most acclaimed singer-songwriters of his generation. A protégé of legendary songwriters Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark\, he quickly became a master storyteller in his own right\, with his songs recorded by Johnny Cash\, Waylon Jennings\, Joan Baez\, Emmylou Harris\, The Pretenders\, and countless others. \nIn 1986\, he released Guitar Town\, which shot to No. 1 on the country charts and is now regarded as a classic of the Americana genre. Most recently\, Earle’s 1988 hit “Copperhead Road” was made an official state song of Tennessee in 2023. \nSubsequent releases\, including The Revolution Starts…Now (2004)\, Washington Square Serenade (2007)\, and TOWNES (2009)\, received consecutive GRAMMY® Awards. Released in 2022\, Jerry Jeff features Earle’s interpretations of songs written by one of his mentors\, Jerry Jeff Walker. \nEarle is also an accomplished author. He has published the novel I’ll Never Get Out of This World Alive (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt\, 2011) and a collection of short stories\, Dog House Roses (Houghton Mifflin\, 2003). As a producer\, he has worked with artists including Joan Baez (Day After Tomorrow) and Lucinda Williams (Car Wheels on a Gravel Road). \nAs an actor\, Earle has appeared in several films and had recurring roles in the HBO series The Wire and Tremé. In 2009\, he appeared in the off-Broadway play Samara\, for which he also composed the score—described by The New York Times as “exquisitely subliminal.” He later wrote music for and appeared in Coal Country\, earning a Drama Desk Award nomination. \nEarle hosts the weekly show Hard Core Troubadour on SiriusXM’s Outlaw Country channel. In 2020\, he was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. In 2023\, he was honored by the Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music. \nHis latest album\, Alone Again (Live)\, was released on July 12\, 2024. Most recently\, Earle was invited to join the Grand Ole Opry and was officially inducted on September 17\, 2025.

Most of all\, she is a credit to her ancestors and an integral support to Indigenous creatives all over North America. Praised by Richard Goode as “a very gifted pianist and a musician of great sensitivity\,” Liang has earned growing recognition as both a soloist and collaborative artist\, with appearances alongside orchestras including the Central Texas Philharmonic\, Penn State Philharmonic\, and Ithaca College Symphony Orchestra\, as well as performances in major recital series across North America and China. A recent graduate of the Peabody Institute\, Liang is now based in Philadelphia\, teaches at the University of Pennsylvania\, and continues to build international momentum with upcoming debuts abroad and a forthcoming debut album.

SUMMARY:Bodhi and the Rainforest
DESCRIPTION:Local artist and creative Suzanne Pierson\, in partnership with The Center\, brings Bodhi and the Rainforest to the Steddy Theater this August! Written and composed by Suzanne\, Bodhi and the Rainforest is an environmental children’s musical telling the adventures of a reluctant caterpillar who embarks on a journey to help restore a disappearing rainforest. Along the way\, the caterpillar encounters colorful creatures\, overcomes challenges\, and discovers an inner strength that leads to a remarkable transformation. Featuring music\, dance\, vibrant characters\, and a cast of local young performers\, this uplifting production celebrates courage\, growth\, and the importance of caring for the natural world. \nBodhi and the Rainforest premiered at the former Houston Fine Arts Center in Denver in 1990\, and received the United Nations Environment Program International Prize: Kids for Saving the Earth. It was also picked up by the Smithsonian Institute for 13 performances at the Denver Museum of Natural Science and History. Suzanne was recognized in 1991 by then-Governor Roy Romer with the Governor’s Prize for Excellence in Education. \nSuzanne\, actor/director Mary Tuck\, local professionals Angela Carroll\, Andrea Pepitone\, and Neil Windsor\, and the Crested Butte Center for the Arts bring this magical production alive in a full theater experience! \nWe encourage the audience to wear rainforest creature costumes. Come early with phones for a photoshoot in front of our rainforest setting and visit our merchandise table. In unison it is almost unrecognizable who’s who\, and in harmony\, an effortless blend that welcomes the exhale. Their uplifting sound and intimate storytelling weave love anthems in and out of their messages\, with simple yet important reminders that we’re not alone. \nTheir ethereal harmonies\, musical warmth\, and meaningful lyrics find inspiration in the beauty of the outdoors and the threads that weave us together as humans. Though their roots lie in the singer-songwriter realm\, their music is intentionally genre-fluid\, allowing them to adapt their sound to a wide range of audiences\, settings\, and collaborations. \nFormed in 2018\, LVDY has played hundreds of shows across the U.S. & Europe—self-funded\, self-built\, and community-powered. What started as sidewalk busking has evolved into a loyal grassroots community—the LVDYMOB—and an intimate\, high-connection live experience. Quickly becoming the best of friends\, they bonded over shared dreams of traveling the world and sharing their music. Their jam sessions\, often set in chilly New Zealand flats\, eventually led to the formation of LVDY. After returning to the U.S.\, they continued playing on front porches and in the homes of friends and family\, turning late-night kitchen jams into the spark of their original music. \nLVDY’s debut EP\, Electricity\, was produced by Dreamers Delight and released in February 2019. That year\, the duo was named Best Folk Band/Artist by Denver’s 303 Magazine\, marking the beginning of their full-time music career. LVDY toured nearly 100 shows and festivals across the country\, performing at renowned venues like Denver’s Lost Lake\, Larimer Lounge\, and The Marquis Theater\, as well as New York’s Rockwood Music Hall\, L.A.’s Hotel Café\, and Chicago’s House of Blues. \nTheir debut album\, Gold\, came to life in 2020 through a successful Kickstarter campaign\, followed by The Woods in 2022.
