SUMMARY:Subalpine Robinhoodism: Castijella as a keystone species
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Gunnison Basin Chapter Colorado Native Plant Society \nHow does the Indian paintbrush obtain its food? Some plants extract their nutrients from the sun. Instead\, the paintbrush\, in addition to photosynthesizing\, parasitizes other plants. Through his research at Rocky Mountain Biological Lab\, Jordan Argrett will lead us to a positive view of plant parasitism in plant communities. Please join the Gunnison Basin Chapter of the Colorado Native Plant Society for this special talk.

SUMMARY:Crested Butte Ski Patrol Community Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:Doors 6:30pm | Opener 7pm | Motet 8:30pm\nJoin us on February 7 for the Crested Butte Ski Patrol’s 44th Annual Attitude Adjustment Fundraiser.\n\nEach winter\, the Attitude Adjustment fundraiser is one of the biggest parties in Crested Butte\, a town known for its parties\, and this year we’re going bigger than ever – with groovy live music from The Motet and tasty bites from Burnell’s Food Truck. But the fun doesn’t stop there\, because this party’s for a good cause\, too… \nWhat started in the winter of ‘78-’79 to raise some extra money for a ski patroller who sustained life-altering injuries has since broadened its horizons\, helping support hundreds of community members and non-profits in need. Last year’s event managed to raise over $30\,000\, donated as grants directly towards this cause\, and this year we’re hoping to raise even more. So mark your calendars for February 7th\, dust off your boogie shoes\, and get ready to join us for a night of dancing\, community\, and a whole lotta fun. \n\n\nThe Motet  \nA new beginning can happen at any time. No matter where you may be on your journey\, you can always start over once again. \nAfter 26 years\, nine albums\, and over a thousand shows\, The Motet embark on another chapter galvanized in equal measure by their longstanding bond and a surge of fresh energy. The genre-breaking group—Dave Watts [drums]\, Joey Porter [keys]\, Garrett Sayers [bass]\, Drew Sayers [keys\, saxophone]\, and Ryan Jalbert [guitar]—officially welcome Sarah Clarke [lead vocals] to the family. Their inimitable instrumental interplay proves just as fiery as ever\, while her addition only fuels their collective flame higher.

SUMMARY:Alpenphunk: A Celebration of Jerry Garcia Band & The Grateful Dead
DESCRIPTION:Doors 7:00pm | Show 8:00pm\nA Celebration of Jerry Garcia Band & The Grateful Dead \nfeaturing Eric Krasno\, Grahame Lesh\, Ross James\, Jennifer Hartswick\, Nicki Bluhm\, Eric Finland & Stanton Moore \nA powerhouse ensemble of genre-defying musicians comes together to honor the timeless legacy of Jerry Garcia Band and the Grateful Dead—two of the most influential forces in American music history. This special celebration brings fresh life to the soulful grooves\, improvisational spirit\, and communal joy that defined Garcia’s music\, from the deeply spiritual ballads of the JGB era to the exploratory psychedelia and raw energy of the Dead. \nAt the heart of the lineup is Eric Krasno\, the Grammy-winning guitarist and producer known for his work with Soulive and Lettuce\, whose love for groove and improvisation makes him a natural torchbearer of Garcia’s spirit. Joining him is Grahame Lesh\, a vital part of the Terrapin Family Band and son of founding Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh\, bringing authentic lineage and deep musicality to the stage. Ross James\, a regular collaborator with Lesh and a standout voice in the modern roots-rock scene\, adds his signature guitar fire and vocal swagger. \nThe show’s emotional core is amplified by the vocal powerhouses Jennifer Hartswick (Trey Anastasio Band) and Nicki Bluhm\, two of the most dynamic and expressive singers of their generation. On keys is Eric Finland\, whose vintage tones and soulful touch evoke the deep gospel and R&B influences of the original JGB sound. Anchoring it all is Stanton Moore\, the legendary drummer from Galactic\, whose New Orleans-infused rhythm keeps the music grounded in feel-good groove and fluid improvisation. \nMore than a tribute\, A Celebration of Jerry Garcia Band & The Grateful Dead is a living\, breathing experience—channeling the heart and soul of a beloved catalog through the unique chemistry of this world-class ensemble. Each performance is a journey\, with room for spontaneity\, joy\, reflection\, and plenty of dancing in between.

SUMMARY:Alpenphunk: Soulive
DESCRIPTION:Doors 7:30pm | Show 8:30pm\nFor over two decades\, Soulive has been at the forefront of the modern soul-jazz and funk movement\, crafting a sound that is as timeless as it is innovative. Formed in 1999 by brothers Alan Evans (drums) and Neal Evans (Hammond B3 organ\, bass keys) alongside guitarist Eric Krasno\, the trio quickly became known for their electrifying live shows\, deep-pocket grooves\, and genre-blending improvisation. \nRooted in classic soul and jazz but unafraid to lean into hip-hop\, rock\, and psychedelic funk\, Soulive has cultivated a loyal global following. Their early records like Turn It Out and Doin’ Something established them as torchbearers of a new groove-based instrumental movement\, while later releases like Next\, Break Out\, and No Place Like Soul pushed the boundaries with high-profile guest collaborations (including Chaka Khan\, Talib Kweli\, and Robert Randolph). \nA cornerstone of the legendary Blue Note Records catalog in the early 2000s\, Soulive has since become synonymous with creative independence\, often releasing music on their own terms and performing with a rotating cast of collaborators. They’ve shared the stage with everyone from The Roots to Stevie Wonder and have become festival mainstays at events like Bonnaroo\, Montreux Jazz Festival\, and New Orleans Jazz Fest. \nKnown not just for their technical prowess but for their unmistakable feel\, Soulive brings an infectious joy to their performances—each set a seamless blend of tight arrangements\, spontaneous exploration\, and unrelenting groove. \nWhether playing intimate jazz clubs or headlining large stages\, Soulive continues to evolve while remaining deeply anchored in the musical traditions that inspired them. Their influence runs deep across generations of musicians\, and their sound remains essential listening for anyone who believes in the power of live\, instrumental soul music.
