Location: Private residence at Whetstone Vista

Tour Guides: Annaliese and Skye Houseman
Chef: Chef Michael Marsee, Yarmony Ranch Wagyu (Walden, CO) and chef/owner of Hogwood BBQ (Crested Butte, CO)
Wine Presenter: Scott Duncan
Live Music: Jamie Lin Wilson

Surrounded by 87 acres of the Allen Ranch, eight acres of designated open space, and sitting on two acres itself, the Houseman home relishes in the pastoral countryside that characterizes the Gunnison County. Rolling sage and wildflower meadows stretch on all sides with an oversized deck to the south to take in the occasional lazy grazing cattle and wandering fox, while the great room gazes straight into the heart of Paradise Divide. With Australian and South African heritage, this has become the Houseman’s well-loved home to deepen their local roots and raise their family. Generations of wedding photos and collections of treasures - from resident owl feathers to shells from beach travels - adorn the nooks and crannies. The ambiance is like a sigh of settling in and relishing in the place you have found yourself.

Arriving for the first time on the Tour, Michael Marsee serves as Executive Chef at the Yarmony Ranch, specializing in the highest quality of verifiable, full blood Japanese Wagyu steaks. Formally trained at the New England Culinary Institute in Vermont, Chef Michael recently utilized his skills traveling the world as the private chef for a prominent family based in Dubai. His style is decidedly contemporary, inspired by the international flavor profiles he’s picked up from living and traveling abroad. His dishes flaunt layers of textures and flavors for a vibrant dining experience. Michael’s prowess emerges from the wide range of experiences he’s led as a chef – from rustic open fire cooking on cattle drives, to precision modern techniques for more elegant gatherings.

The focus of Chef Michael’s evening creation will be Wagyu Beef from Yarmony Ranch. Located in Jackson County, Colorado, Yarmony Ranch consistently produces the highest quality Wagyu Beef in the U.S., utilizing only a verifiable Japanese genetic heritage of this delicacy. Its grade surpasses all standards. Japanese cuts of the same are only graded at 5.5. But Wagyu Beef is graded between 8 and 10.

Wine Presenter, enthusiast, and part-time Crested Butte resident Scott Duncan further enlivens the evening with dynamic wine pairings and discussions of the craft.

Folk and country artist Jamie Lin Wilson is named one of the 10 Rising Texas Country Artists You Need to Know. A bright rising star of singular talent and restless creativity, she first broke into the music scene as a co-lead vocalist of the Gougers. As a solo artist, Jamie’s voice exudes that honeyed tenor twang - one of the sweetest instruments in modern folk music. Her songwriting is poignant, poetic and down-to-earth with an added personal vulnerability. Jamie taps into her experiences as a mother and wife to add a depth and honesty others seem too timid to approach.
