Katherine Baxter

Grants Consultant

Originally from Colorado, Katherine Baxter holds an MSc in Global Social Change and a PhD in Sociology from the University of Edinburgh. She has worked in academia, education, government, and the non-profit sector, in United States, Scotland, Nepal, the Middle East, and East Africa, always endeavoring to forge innovative and compassionate solutions to complex social and  environmental problems. Her grant writing and research expertise spans the social sciences, the humanities, and the arts across the public policy, research, and non-profit sectors. Her work has predominantly focused on marginalized and socially excluded youth, education, social change, and environmental sustainability, looking closely at the intersections among them. She is passionate about harnessing the potential of the arts to foster individual and social reflection, connection, and transformation.

In addition to her consulting work, she is the Operations Manager of an animal welfare and conservation non-profit and the Co-founder of a non-profit working to cultivate civic engagement and strengthen democracy through media literacy education. She is based in Denver, CO, and when not furthering these causes she enjoys gardening, xc-skiing, hiking, and sipping on nice whisky with her Scottish husband, John.
