Malia Jones has lived in Crested Butte since 1998. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Tulane University in 2008 in English with a focus on African and Diaspora Studies. A true Buttian, Malia has worked in outdoor recreation, led small businesses, and held leadership roles in the hospitality industry for over two decades. She served on the boards of Tough Enough to Wear Pink, Mountain Roots, and the Executive Board of Crested Butte Mountain Theatre as both President and Vice-President. Most recently Malia co-owned The Slogar and revitalized the beloved Crested Butte classic. She actively participates in social justice work in her free time. She helps organize the Gunnison Valley Queer Women’s group: planning events and the Crested Butte Pride float annually. She lives in Crested Butte with her wife Alex and three children.
