The fourth annualĀ Mountain Words Literary FestivalĀ is Crested Butteā€™s multi-day literary celebration at nine thousand feet, featuring workshops, panel discussions, readings, live theatre, film, childrenā€™s events, and more.

 

Welcoming over 40 authors and presenters, includingĀ Raj Patel,Ā Ted Conover, Rachel Monroe, Justin Farrell, Pam Houston, Rebecca Makkai,Ā and others.Ā Workshops and events in fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry, nature writing, playwriting, publishing, journalism, long-form, research, and more.

Welcome to the Center's Literary Arts Department! Engage with words, stories, and ideas in new and exciting ways. Explore the craft of writing in workshops; be inspired by life-affirming prose at readings; or network with other writers and readers.

Our literary workshops and classes strive to provide the highest caliber of craft, support, and community for writers and readers in the Gunnison Valley and beyond. We focus on the whole writer, providing an exceptional, inclusive learning experience.

The Center's Literary Arts Department hosts a variety of events over the course of the year. Look out forĀ our Mountain Words Literary Festival on Memorial Day weekend, which brings some of the nation's best writers to Crested Butte for a literary celebration of grand proportions.
