honoring bonnie and david weekley
The Center for the Arts is pleased to announce that Bonnie and David Weekley will be honored with the second annual Steddy Award, to be presented at the Center Gala on Friday, July 19, 2024.
The Steddy Award recognizes those who have steadfastly supported the Center’s mission, demonstrated profound civic and charitable commitment to Crested Butte, and inspired philanthropic leadership in others. “Our primary motivation for supporting the new Center for the Arts was to enhance the Crested Butte community’s enjoyment of a variety of arts,” David said. “I also love iconic buildings, and being involved from design to completion was exciting and gave us great satisfaction. The building says something special about this town, and it creates joy year-round for the local population, part-time residents, and visitors.”
David explained that the Weekley Family gave the name “The Grace Atrium” to the lobby at the new Center “because of our personal faith, and because we feel our family has been graced by being here in the mountains for 65 years.” The Weekleys’ contributions to support the design and construction of the new building were made in honor of David’s parents, Rosalie and Weldon Weekley, and his brother, Bob Weekley.
Anyone wishing to make a donation to the Center for the Arts in honor of the Weekley family can donate online at crestedbuttearts.org/donate or contact Development Manager Erika Brownlee at erika@crestedbuttearts.org.
