“THE COPYCATS CONCERT” – SONGS INSPIRED BY FAMOUS CLASSICAL WORKS
What makes a concert “The Copycats Concert”?
A modern song – music of any kind – inspired by famous classical works is called an “adaptation.” Dozens of such beloved melodies have become part of the American songbook, and these songs will comprise “The Copycats Concert”.
In an innovative combination of classical and 20th Century music, the section of the original classical piece that inspired the popular tune will be played by professional musicians. Then, the adaptation will be sung by operatic and musical theatre performers.
Enjoy listening to music by composers as glorious as Bach, Beethoven, Borodin, Chopin, Debussy, Haydn, Martini, Mozart, Ponchielli, Ravel, Rubinstein, and Tchaikovsky. As a special bonus, Randi Stroh, Crested Butte’s own professional classical pianist, will play all the virtuoso melodies by Chopin. The parade of Copycat hits will include songs originally recorded by Frank Sinatra, Jo Stafford, Tony Bennet, Vic Damone, Judy Garland, Elvis Presley, Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, and the Supremes!
