The Color of Snow: A Fundraiser Reception

11 | 14 @ 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Be part of Crested Butte’s newest creative community event! The Crested Butte Creative District invites you to contribute to our upcoming 6″x6″ exhibition—open to everyone—and a special 10″x10″ invitational showcase.

  • Who can participate? Anyone! Artists of all ages and experience levels are welcome.
  • Where can I get the canvas? Pick up your FREE 6×6 canvas at the Center for the Arts or one of four partner locations anytime between September 22 and October 31.
    • Locations: Townie books,
  • When is the artwork due? Submit your artwork by November 5 and be part of The Color of Snow: A 6×6 Fundraiser gallery reception on November 14 as a part of the Crested Butte Makers Market.
  • How many works? Up to 2 original artworks per artist (any medium, 2D or 3D).
  • Is there a theme? Yes! Our theme this year is The Color of Snow. The theme is simply a spark for inspiration—it doesn’t need to be taken literally. What matters most is celebrating and showcasing the creativity and talents of our community’s artists.
  • Format: Works must be created on the provided 6″x6″ canvases, signed only on the back to keep the exhibition anonymous.
  • Cost: Free to participate.
  • Sales: All submitted artworks will be displayed and available for purchase at $25 each. Each purchase helps support microgrants and professional development opportunities for local creatives through the Crested Butte Creative District. Buyers will discover the artist’s name only after purchase!

Join us in filling the gallery walls with hundreds of works that showcase the creativity of our community. Participation is free, fun, and for a great cause!

We will have two FREE community art + craft days at the Center for the Arts:

October 8, 4-7pm and October 25, 11am-2:30pm

Come use our vast selection of art supplies to bring your canvas to life! *Attendance not required to participate in the show!

Please note: Artwork should not incite or depict hatred or be sexually explicit, graphic, or abusive (keep it PG please!) The art should provoke thought, not harm.

For Attendees & Buyers

The Color of Snow: A Fundraiser Exhibition

Discover the joy of collecting original art while supporting the Crested Butte Creative District!

Every $25 artwork purchase directly supports microgrants and professional development opportunities for local artists in our community. The 6″x6″ exhibition is filled with a hundred one-of-a-kind works created by local artists, youth, community members, and more—plus a special 10″x10″ invitational showcase featuring selected artists.

Here’s the twist: artworks are exhibited anonymously, with artists’ names revealed only after purchase. Every 6”x6” piece, no matter who made it, is just $25—an affordable way to start (or grow!) your art collection while giving back to support local creatives.

Come celebrate creativity, find a piece that speaks to you, and take home a little square of Crested Butte’s vibrant art scene.
