2 – 3 pm Panel: “Page to Podcast: how to bring your writing to the airwaves”
Join podcasting heavyweights Laura Krantz, Annie Rijks, Mitzi Rapkin, and Dave Gonzalez, as they demystify the process of taking creative work and producing it into podcast format — tech and all! Chaired by David Flora.
Mitzi Rapkin is the host and producer of the literary podcast, First Draft: A Dialogue on Writing. This June marks the tenth anniversary of the first episode, which aired on Aspen Public Radio. Since the first episode, Rapkin has consistently read a book a week and interviewed the author. First Draft features fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and essay writers. With a specific focus on craft, Rapkin and her guests explore the decisions and psychology that went into the featured book, the themes of a writer’s work, and questions focused on the human experience. George Saunders said Rapkin “is one of the most talented and passionate interviewers in the world. What makes her great is her precision and her genuine curiosity, which transforms the interview into an urgent conversation. The time flies by, and I always learn something new about my own work.” Rapkin got her start in radio at KBUT in Crested Butte in 1997 where she worked as a news reporter and talk show host. She now lives in Basalt, Colorado. You can learn more about Rapkin, the podcast, and listen to the more than 410 archived interviews at www.firstdraftwriters.com.
