Garrett Lebeau

November 7, 2022 by Brooke Harless MacMillan Leave a Comment

7 pm doors | 8 pm opener Michael Milligan | 9 pm Garrett LeBeau

Live in the Steddy Theater with award-winning blues musician Garrett LeBeau and opener Michael Milligan!

Garrett LeBeau is a member of the Shoshone tribe, born and raised on the Wind River Indian Reservation near Lander, Wyoming. His music draws instant comparisons to Boz Scaggs, Al Green or Van Morrison vocally with a sound that is completely and genuinely his own.

LeBeau’s soul style certainly captures the groove, all right, with a gritty funk vibe and vocals that might draw comparisons to Boz Scaggs (with whom he’s toured) or even Ray LaMontagne, but it also digs deep, examining the dichotomies of his childhood experiences, the scars inflicted by his indoctrination into what he considers a cult, and the salvation he’s found through music. On his new EP, he addresses his history head on, as well as the ongoing struggles of Native Americans and our common desire for love and happiness.

—

This cat, Michael Milligan is a soulful singer, a true ‘no imitations accepted’ blues man. An established musician since 1973, his ties to Louisiana can be heard in his sound. He first cut his musical teeth from ‘73 to ‘92 as a drummer and lead vocalist for the bands “MAGIC BUS”, “SMOKIN’ RED”, “NEW MOON”, & “JUSTIN’ HEAT”. In 1992, he FINALLY stepped out from behind the drums to become a true front man. Thank God, ‘cause this is where he shines. In the year 2000, he took up playing the harp, and has since mastered the instrument. Moving to Houston around this time he played with “MEMPHIS TRAIN” and “DELTA ROUX” on the “TAXIM” record label out of Germany. Michael currently hails from Austin, Texas and tours with his band, “MICHAEL MILLIGAN and the TEXIANA BLUEZ”. Michael is a musician’s musician and a survivor of all that life can throw at you. If you wanna hear a story…just listen.
