VIBRANCIES: Chuck Brenton + Frank Gonzales
On View: July 1 – August 4, 2023 | Opening Reception July 1, 5-7pm
The Center for the Arts’ Kinder Padon Gallery (KPG) is pleased to present Vibrancies, featuring an exquisite pairing of bronze sculptor Chuck Brenton and painter Frank Gonzales, and curated by KPG Gallery Manager, Rachael Stubbs. Brenton is based in Loveland, Colorado and Gonzales in Mesa, Arizona. The two highly celebrated and widely collected artists have created new bodies of work specifically for this installation and are converging their unique styles for a stunning exhibit that is not to be missed. Vibrances delves into nature’s geometric and organic dualities and parallels flora and fauna ecosystems with a brilliant focus on color and form. As a whole, the exhibit is distinctly wild, fresh, bold, and of course – vibrant.
The work at its core is an abstract meditation on wildness and conceptual complexity. Brenton depicts the duality of nature in the mountain west by using chaotic geometries and systematic minimalism, drawing inspiration from both the original structure of the habitats and the patterns of the organisms living within them. His technical knowledge is a result of the time he spent employed by a fine art bronze foundry in Loveland. Subsequently, he developed a proprietary color system for polished metal which marks his hybridized style of painting and sculpture. His work has been featured in DARIA Art Magazine and has been exhibited throughout the Southwest.
His work explores ornithological subjects, organic and plant elements and color. By creating paintings from reference and made-up elements, there becomes a play between artificiality and realism.” Frank Gonzales’ work is included in both private and public collections around the world including the Ampersand Boutique Hotel in London, The Orange County Children’s Hospital, and Starbucks coffee chain location. His work has been featured in numerous publications including American Art Collector Magazine, Juxtapoz, Booooom, Colossal and featured on the cover of American Art Collector Magazine in 2010.
