Join the Center for the Arts for a free poetry reading with Crisosto Apache, Colorado’s 11th Poet Laureate (2026–2027). Originally from the Mescalero Apache Reservation in New Mexico, Apache will share selections from several poetry collections, exploring identity, heritage, belonging, and life in the American Southwest.
A recipient of the 2026 Academy of American Poets Laureate Fellowship and the 2023 Betty Berzon Emerging Writers Award, Apache brings a distinctive perspective to contemporary poetry. Through storytelling and language, Apache’s work highlights Indigenous experiences and the histories, cultures, and communities that shape the Southwest.
As Colorado’s Poet Laureate, Apache serves as a statewide ambassador for poetry and the literary arts, bringing people together through creative expression.
