Southern Avenue Plans ‘A Funkified Formal Affair’ For New Year’s Eve In Colorado

Memphis soul-blues family band Southern Avenue has announced a New Year’s Eve celebration at Crested Butte, CO’s Center for the Arts on December 31st, 2022. The performance will mark Southern Avenue’s first New Year’s show since 2019 when the group opened for Galactic at New Orleans, LA’s Tipitina’s.

For this special event, billed as A Funkified Formal Affair, the band invites attendees to dress up in their finest funky-formal attire. Prizes will be awarded to the best-dressed attendees.

“It’s time to funk it up y’all! We are bringing in the New Year with heavy soul, funk, blues and a whole lot of groove,” says drummer/vocalist Tikyra Jackson. “Put on your best dressed and get down with us at our ‘Funkified Formal Affair’ this NYE in Crested Butte Colorado!” Adds lead vocalist Tierinii Jackson, “We are ringing in the New Year in Crested Butte with many of our closest Colorado fans and family. It’s going to be a funky party high in the Rockies…nothing excites me more!”

Ahead of the New Year’s celebration in Colorado, the band will remain busy on the road in continuing support of its acclaimed 2021 record, Be The Love You Want. Following a run of U.S. tour dates and festival appearances in October, the group will travel to Europe for a string of shows in mid-December.
